Hello everybody and welcome to Module 3 of your TEFL course. For this part of the process, we are going to focus on some very important aspects of your professional practice as teachers: Curriculum and Material Design.
Remember: Your participation is KEY! :)
The first time I heard SMARTer goals was in an management training course. It said managers should help their employees set SMARTer GOAL align with company. In this case, I remember A stands for assignable, e stands for evaluating and r stands for review. It is very interesting for me to know this rule can apply to Language teaching. Maybe here we can put e for exciting and r for rewarding in setting objectives for English teaching:)
Great comment! when you're comparing previous with just acquired knowledge means that U are really learning. I learnt that in MOOC (Massive Online Open Course) in coursera one of the platforms I talked about yesterday. The MOOC is "Learning how to learn" by the University of California San Diego. Some of the topics it includes are: ways of learning (focus vs diffus mode), what's learning? Memory, chunking, ilusions of competence, motivation, overlearning, how to tackle procastination, etc. So, I think it offers tools and strategies to become better students that we can use to teach more effectively. Here it's the link https://www.coursera.org/learn/learning-how-to-learn
Hey everyone.. I couldn't assist this week because I'm a bit sick. I would like to know what have you done in class these two days, thanks. Have a great weekend!
We did our technology and websites presentation, and we are waiting for yours on Wednesday:) Today we did review and test. The presentation you are missing will post here ( I think). Hope you get better soon.
It might be interesting to try and build "how to learn" and how to study into English classes, along with other things that the school system does not cover. I remember when I was younger that I realized at one point that I didn't know how to study, it just hit me at one point that there had to be a better way to do it than what I was doing, but that was never taught in school
